Availability is limited.

Please note November 17 – 23 is blacked out and not discounted. You can check in or travel during those dates, however, the nights are not discounted, and are full rate. You can stay after December 22, however, December 22 will be the last night discounted, all later nights will be at full price.

Please note that during many of these travel dates, Disney World is also offering the free Disney Dining discount, which should be better for most stays.

FYI, these offers seem to be extremely limited. I was told this morning there are no available rooms at the Grand Floridian or Polynesian either the week of 11/12 or 11/26. I may call again just to make sure.

Jessica – Strange. 11/12 – 19 is showing available at Grand Floridian, a garden view room. 11/26 – 12/3 has plenty of availability too, all rooms types seem to be available. I would call back, or get a hold of a decent Disney specialist travel agent, they can find what you want.

I was thinking that last year the FL resident room discounts were released before the ones for the general public. Am I remembering correctly? Might FL resident discounts still be released? Do they ever just not offer the FL resident discount?

CORRECTION. For the third year in a row, it took more than one call to the Disney Reservation Center to get accurate information. There are indeed some rooms still available at GF and Poly the week of 11/26.

Downward spiral of discounts continue. Lower %s, less weeks with full discount, less resorts available, announced later. Little hope that the AP room discounts will be any better. Probably the same with less availability. Booking bounceback offers becoming more important to guarantee yourself something good, so you can book your airfare early without the stressful waiting game.

Keith, are the days of 35%-40% room discounts gone for good?

Wow, they’ve gotten very granular with the discounts, haven’t they?

Any guess if it’s possible they’ll extend the dates to include Nov. 23rd? Seems odd that this date was included for free dining but not for the room discount. Of course it’s the only night I needed a room discount.

Paula – This year, Disney has been very late on the FL resident and AP discounts, they have been released far after any general public deals. So, yes, still very possible, we are still expecting them at some point here.

Mike – Parks are considerably more full this year, as are the hotels. Disney has less and less of a reason to discount, which is why the discounts aren’t as good, and why there are fewer of them. I remember a time when it was either an AP discount or nothing at all, no other discounts existed.

Lately, AP discounts have been similar to general public deals, but 5% better.

Heidi – Probably not. I was surprise free dining started that close after Thanksgiving, and again surprise that night was excluded from the discounts today. However, with free dining, you have to start your vacation on 11/23 to qualify, but with this discount, you can go over Thanksgiving and get the discount for some nights at the end, which is probably why it was excluded.

    Keith,

We had a room already booked at the Polynesian for the last week of Nov (with the dining plan promo) but want to change it to the room only discount. I had done this in the past and it was never an issue – today they are telling me it is a problem. Any suggestions?

Mike, I did that exact thing today. We had Free Dining for 6 nights at the GF starting 11/26, but today I cancelled that reservation and made a new reservation with the room-only discount (had to switch from theme park to lagoon view)… The first time I called the reservation line (someone named Lindy or Lindsay), I was told there were no rooms of any type available in either Poly or GF, but on a hunch I immediately called again and was given different info…I had to wait another 15 minutes or so just to inform guest services about the misinformation (unfortunately this problem is getting worse.) If there is availability, I see no reason why you can’t make a new reservation and cancel the other one.

Mike – If there is availability, you should be able to switch no problem. Disney sometimes has problems right when deals are announced, as all rooms/dates are often not in the system. Definitely call back, as Jessica said, and try again tonight or tomorrow.

If there is no availability for your dates/resorts, you may need to look at other resort options, or stick with free dining.

I called back and spoke to someone else and it was no problem. Thanks for the advise.

Debbie – You should be able to find the discount on the WDW website and book it from there. You can also call or contact a travel agent, those options work too.

Fall AP rates came out today.

We’re doing a split stay at Poly/BC from 12/8-12/16 (4 nights and 2 rooms at each resort).

The AP discount saved an additional 5% over the 30% general public discount I booked yesterday for the BC leg.

However, the AP discount wasn’t any better than the general public one for the Poly leg (got 25% for the first 2 nights and 30% for the second two).

Overall, I’m very pleased as we saved about $2360 over rack rate (otherwise, wouldn’t have been able to justify the cost of staying at these resorts, especially with 2 rooms).
