Bummer. Same resorts excluded as the general public discounts. Looks like i’m going to have to jump on bouceback deals in the future to get deep savings on certain popular resorts. I wonder if this will end up backfiring on Disney marketing.

Mike – Yes, unfortunately, POFQ has become quite popular due to the recent remodel. Plus, it is small, so fewer rooms than the other moderates. Bounceback deals are usually fantastic, a great way to go. Plus, if anything better comes along, you can always change it.

How do you get a bounceback deal? I’ve heard of it but forgot to check into it when we were there in Dec.

Bounceback deals are only available to Disney resort guests. While staying at WDW, there will be an offer put in your room to return at some point in the future. It is kind of random, you can always ask if one is going on if you don’t see something in your room. It has been some time since we have seen one, a year or more, so don’t be surprised if there isn’t anything going on while you are there.

If you purchase an annual pass, would I be correct to assume you no longer need the park hopper to visit more than one park per day?

Lynne – Correct, the basic annual pass includes access to the four Disney theme parks, and is automatically a hopper. If you want access to the water parks or Disney Quest too, you have to buy the premium annual pass.

Can you always add dinning plan when you book hotel accomidations under AP program? When I spoke to a Cast member they said they always have some type of AP discount running for AP holders with exception of two weeks around Christmas and the week of Easter. I am trying to seek clarification if you have the option to add dinning as you do with the current AP discount they are running.
Also, she did not mention a blackout period around Thanksgiving, as this is a time we are planning on going. Do you agree?

Lynne – Disney has an AP booking option available all year as you mentioned, which can be booked either room only or with one of the dining plans added. However, the rooms are not discounted, they are at full rate, as is the dining plan.

When you book with an AP discount like this one, the rooms are discounted, and you can add the dining plans (at full price).

Thanks Keith – Going back to my conversation with the Cast member it seemed as though they always run sometype of room discount other than the blackout periods, Christmas and Easter. Sorry, just trying to understand.

Lynne – Well, easy mistake. Disney calls the AP “package” a discount, even though it is not. It is available all year for AP holders to book, so if there is a real discount or not they can book and get the dining plan without buying park passes.

We have booked our vacation 4/22/12-4/26/12, we were lucky enough to have the free dining pin attached to our name. I asked about getting the discount on the room as advertised and the rep I talked to said we were only aloud the 1 disc. Is this correct. Also we are staying at All Star Movies, is Pop Century cheaper? We are a family of 8 so I have to save where I can. Thanks for your help.

C3smiles – Correct, it is always only one discount, either free dining OR the room discount, never both. Disney has never let you combine deals, you just have to take the one that is best for your family. Pop Century shouldn’t be cheaper, you can always call Disney or your travel agent and have them check. If you have preferred rooms at Movies, then the other values are probably less, otherwise, they should be the same.

I was reading the post from c3smiles was just wonder what they mean by the “free dining pin attached to thieir name” I didnt think their was any free dining in april 2012. We are planning a disney trip on 5/30/12 and would really like free dining. Now that disney has announced free dining for aug/sept 12. Do you think they could be doing free dining for end of may. They had it last year but i dont know when they announced those few day the end of may 2011

Gail – Disney did sent out some PIN codes for late April – June. Some were for free dining, most were for a room discount. You need to receive the PIN code directly from Disney, you cannot use anyone else’s. Some people have had luck calling Disney to see if there is one attached to their name that got lost in the mail.

We will not see free dining for any dates before August 25, it just isn’t going to happen.

Keith- I am getting conflicting information on AP. When I spoke to CM at ticket office they told me that you cannot purchase AP from the concierge desk at Grand Floridian and that a voucher was sufficent for check in. I called the GF directly and they told me you can purchase AP from the concierge desk and you needed the pass to check in. Which is correct? The person at the GF seemed more reliable.

    Thanks!

Any idea when they will open up the summer hotel discounts for AP holders? I have our trip booked for July at the Polynesian, with the intention of switching over to the discount code if/when it is released. If not, I need to re-think where we will be staying. The discounts to the general public are only 5% at the Polynesian, which is not enough for me. It makes me uneasy to be only 3 months from our trip and not yet have the plans all set. Thanks!

Mary – I am expecting the next round of AP discounts soon, they usually show up right around the same time as the public deals. Disney is usually a bit more flexible with AP discounts, hopefully all resorts will be included for Summer dates.

Has anyone seen or heard anything since the last April 8 post about AP room discounts for the summer? I noticed they posted an offer for the Disney Beach Resorts, and I’m hoping this doesn’t indicate they won’t be offering any of the WDW resorts at a discount to AP holders this summer!! I’m a fairly new passholder so I’m not sure of their usual timeline, but it seems to be getting late as the current WDW offer runs only through mid-June. I’ve been holding off making plans, but I’m starting to get a little nervous.

Thomas – Nope, nothing at all. If we see summer AP deals, we should see them pretty soon I would think. As soon as anything comes available, I will post the information on the front page.

Earlier this week I spoke with someone at the Disney Travel Company about summer annual pass hotel discounts. She said that they usually find out about the discounts on the evening before they are released to the public. She then said that since the current offers can be booked through June 14th, she doesn’t expect to see any new annual pass offers released until then. Of course, this is just her speculation, but it’s not what I wanted to hear. Just thought I’d pass this along.

Mary – As the CM noted, they have absolutely no idea. This deal was released on February 9. The previous deal, which ran through March 8 for travel dates, could be booked through March 8, so there was a good 4 weeks of overlap there.

The discounts don’t cover the same dates, so there isn’t any reason for Disney to stagger them, they will be released if/when Disney feels they need to be released.
