2011 and 2012 WDW Military Room Only Discount

Travel Dates: October 3, 2010 – October 1, 2012

Update: April 19, 2011, Disney World announced that the Military Room Only discount will be extended through October 1, 2012. Same extension for the Military Salute Tickets. Blackout dates for the newly covered dates have not yet been announced, but expect them to be similar to the black out dates below.

Active and retired military members can now book specially discounted room reservations, and save up to 40% off of the rack rate at select Walt Disney World resorts. Availability may be extremely limited during the following dates:

November 24 – 26, 2010, December 26 – 31, 2010 and April 17 – 20, 2011

Availability may be limited, and not all resorts may be available for all dates. Some minimum stays may be required, weekday and weekend rates may differ depending on resort. Offer available to active duty military, activated reservists and retired military. Proof of Military eligibility is required at check in.

The 2010/2011 Quick Service, Disney Dining  and Disney Deluxe Dining plans are also available to add to the room only reservations, if you are interested in a dining plan. The dining plans are a great way to budget and save money while visiting Walt Disney World. Dining plans are not discounted. Tickets may not be added to these special military room only discounts. Rumor has it Disney will release a discounted Military Salute ticket for travel dates in 2011, but nothing for the remainder of 2010.

For eligibility questions, please contact Shades of Green, they will be able to help you, we will not.

For more information, please contact our sponsor Mouseketrips, and ask for one of the following codes:

  • EQ5 – 2010 Room Only reservation
  • VO4 – 2011 Room Only reservation

Johnny – Disney is not currently offering any military tickets for 2010. Rumor has it they are currently in the process of approving 2011 tickets, but nothing will be offered for the remainder of this year.

Johnny, I am not sure you get notifications of new comments, but today’s post details the tickets for next year.

I plan on visiting Disney World early Dec 2011. When would be a good time to look for military discounts during this time frame? Thanks

Cory – Military deals, if made available, probably will not be released until this time next year. I would suggest looking for general public deals though, they are usually pretty close but released much earlier. You can always change the discount later if military deals are released.

I would suggest you sign up for our email list, you will be notified of any new discount that are released.

I’ve had trouble being able to add the Disney Dining Plan to my Room Only reservation with the military discount. Called today and the CM could not find the right code after about an hour I gave up. Does anyone know the code for 2011 Military Room Only with Dining Plan?

Cody – The only discount codes released were the ones listed above, I have not seen any others posted. For 2010 dates earlier this year, they did release separate codes for dining plans. Let me do a bit of research, I will update the post if I am able to track down the codes.

Since I can buy tickets for friends with the discounted ticket offer, can I have a reservation with a room for me and another room for my friends with this discounted rate?

William – Typically, each military member can book up to three rooms with the discount, so yes, you can book a room for you and up to 2 friends. You will need to be there when they check in to show your ID.

Cody – So you were able to add it? Thanks for the code! I am still trying to confirm others, I will update the thread once I have them.

Why does Disney say they have announced through 2012 but when you call to book, it’s only been released through October 1st? What is the purpose? Do you know when pricing will be released past October 1st? Thanks!

Bonnie – Someone jumped the gun a few weeks ago and announced on national TV that it had been extended. The agreement has been made, but the codes are not yet in the system to book past October 1, 2011. I am hearing mid-June as an official release date, so should be sometime in the next few weeks.

Would a spouse be able to book the reservation and check in without the activie service member present? Will be on vacation without my husband (he is active duty) – he is unable to go.

Christine – Shouldn’t be a problem, but call Shades of Green to confirm, they are the ones that set the rules.

I just wanted to say that it has been my experience that Shades of Green, although they sell Disney tickets, does not set the rules with the Armed Forces Salute tickets. Disney does. So, if you are staying at Shades of Green and have a question about their eligibility requirements, you should call SOG, but if you are booking a Disney Resort using a Disney PIN, call Disney. In response to Christine’s question, as long as you have a military id card you should be fine, as both recognize deployment issues. I have been married to the military with kids for nearly 17 years, and often go more than once a year, staying at both SOG and Disney resorts. HTH.

Andrea – Technically, Shades of Green (military) and Disney negotiate the deals annually. I have found that for tickets you should call Shades of Green, Disney reservations rarely know who qualifies and who does not. For room reservations, Disney usually knows the rules pretty well.

We are looking to book the first week of December 2012. I know that right now the Military offers are only extended through October, when will they announced another extension? I am thinking of just booking the rooms and then calling back and asking for the discount when it’s announced. Would that work? I don’t want to miss out on rooms waiting for news. (We want to book at the All Stars or Art of Animation resorts.

Kerry – The military discounts are negotiated one year at a time. That has been the case the last few years they have offered this deal. Sometimes it comes out early, like it did for 2012 (April), sometimes they announce it just days before the previous deal ends.

Yes, go ahead and book your room only reservation now, you can apply the military or any other deal later on once they are released.

my son is in the British military and we will be going to Florida July 2012 on vacation. I would like to know if he would be entitled to discounts for both himself and the family to the theme parks? I would appreciate it if you could let me know if and what discount we will be entitled to. Thanks

    1. Keith Avatar
      Keith

Anne Marie – The military discount is available to US military only.

Hello, this is very confusing to me, would it include the Contemporary also, or is this only for Shades of Green, thank you 🙂

    1. Keith Avatar
      Keith

Lisa – This offer is for Disney World resorts only, so the Contemporary would apply. Shades of Green is not a WDW resort, it is owned and operated by the military.

My husband is retired military…we already have our stay booked. Is there a discount on just DW tickets?
