Disney World Free Gift Card Offer

Travel Dates: January 3 – June 3, 2010

Walt Disney World has released a special Magic Your Way package deal for the travel dates listed above, where you can receive up to a $750 Disney Gift Card  for free with your stay. There are a few requirements:

  • A minimum 5 night stay
  • A minimum 5 day Magic Your Way park pass
  • You must stay at a Disney World resort (Swan, Dolphin and Downtown Disney area resorts do not qualify)

Availability is extremely limited, especially during January and February. Blackout dates include March 28 – April 10, 2010. You may not check in during the black out dates. You can check in March 27 or before and extend into the black out period and still qualify. Edit: As of March 5, 2010, Disney has removed the black out period, you are no longer restricted during that time frame. You can also check in June 3 and qualify for the free gift card. (This discount has been extended to cover dates after June 3, 2010: June – August Disney World Gift Card offer)

You will receive the gift card at check in, it cannot be used to pay for part of your package. You must pay your package in full 45 days before travel. The gift card can be used anywhere in the Walt Disney World resort theme parks and resorts that accept credit cards, including restaurants, gift shops and to pay for your charges against your room. It can also be used at many Walt Disney World Downtown Disney merchants, at the Disneyland Resort, on the Disney Cruise or at the Disney Store. It can also be used to pay for a future Disney vacation.

Gift Card Amounts:

  • $300 – Disney World Value Resorts
  • $500 – Disney World Moderate Resorts
  • $750 – Disney World Deluxe Resorts
  • $750 – Disney World Deluxe Villa Resorts

Please note that you cannot combine discounts. If you have already booked a reseration with the buy 4 get 3 free discount or another discount, you can not add this to your reservation. You will need to compare your current reservation with the Disney Gift Card deal, and decide which option works better for you.

    Good Afternoon~
    We are thinking about visiting Disney in late April. We are considering staying at the Pop Music value hotel, most likely in the family suite if we can get it. Will gift cards be given out for family suite reservations?

    The only family suites are at All-Star Music, there are not any at Pop Century. Yes, if you do stay in a family suite, you would get a gift card. You could also do 2 rooms at Pop Century, and get 2 cards, though your rooms would not be guaranteed to connect.

    Could I get this gift card with the DVC reservation we have for late May?

      If your DVC reservation was made using DVC points, then no, you do not qualify. In order to qualify, you must book a MYW package that includes your Disney resort and theme park tickets. A rule of thumb is that any reservation made with DVC points is never valid for any Disney discount.

    We usually visit WDW in the off season and use the Free Dinning Plan. Is it going to be offered this year (2010)?

    And if we book between march 27th – April 10th, and had to have 3 rooms at on of the DW resorts would each room receive an gift card? And can that gift card be used towards food?

    We do not know at this point about free dining for 2010. It is likely we will see it again, though we will not know for sure until the discount is released, probably in early April.

    Between March 28 and April 10th is blacked out, you will not receive a gift card if you check in during these dates. If you book outside the black out dates, and had 3 rooms, yes, you would get 3 cards. The gift cards can be used basically anywhere on Disney property, including restaurants, gift shops and at your resort.

    Sorry Keith, I just copied the Bold print from above without realizing it was the black out dates.

    So say we go in Sept. 2010 and it says here we have to book before March 27th 2010, (for this promotion). And in April they come out with the Free Dining Plan, do we qualify for this promotion also?

      Well, two things wrong there with your scenario. First, the travel dates for the gift card offer are January 3 – June 3, 2010, traveling in September would be outside the travel dates, so you would not qualify.

      Secondly, Disney does not let you combine discounts. If there are 2 discounts for your travel dates, you will need to compare the two, and pick one of them.

    Using the gidt card promotion, instead of purchasing the deluxe meal plan, pruchasing a less expensive plan and use the gift card to cover the additonal charges for character type meals?

    Sorry, I just read it, not much of a question. Would using that strategy make sense? Have you all heard of anyone that has tried it? Any information would be helpful. -Thanks!

    Ok, yes, the gift card can be used at just about any restaurant, including all that are in the parks or resorts (there are a few in Downtown Disney that don’t accept it). Most character meals are pretty inexpensive, compared to other table service restaurants, the only exception is Cinderella’s Royal Table, but that is 2 table service meals per person too.

    Does the Port Orlean-French Quarters qualify?
    I’m only asking since it’s located in the Downtown Disney Area and the offer says it excludes Swan, Dolphin, and Downtown Disney
